July/August Update

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

| By John Berger

The month of July/August will be a busy one for the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (WAAEH) with a number of key events being staged during these months.

For this reason our normal scheduling of Pulse meetings will be amended.

However, I would like to draw your attention to a few events including:-

Best Practice Workshop | 27 July

Brisbane-based Micah Projects will be visiting Perth at the end of July, offering our community a unique workshop to enhance the way we support assertive outreach programs within our communities. Micah are national leaders in assertive outreach practice and have expertise in designing and delivering training nationally.

This workshop aims to assist building the capacity of organisations and services to support workers to engage effectively and how assertive outreach links to the Housing First approach and Advance to Zero methodology. The workshop hopes to assist developing consistent best practice and policy approaches, contributing to effective sector collaboration.

The Best Practice Workshop will examine the policies and practices that are required to support frontline assertive outreach workers. The session is intended for Managers, Service Coordinators, Quality Assurance and Policy Staff including NFP’s and Government staff.

If your agency is connected to and engages in outreach practice, we encourage you to attend to maximise the benefits of the previous day’s training and to ensure your staff are supported and empowered to deliver effective support.

This will held at The Platform from 9.30am on Wednesday, 27 July and to register go here.

Homelessness Week | 1 - 7 August 2022

This year for Homelessness Week, we are focusing on the intrinsic link between Housing, Health & Homelessness.
