Join the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness for its first Pulse Session of 2021.
These meetings are hosted by the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (Alliance) to provide stakeholders the opportunity to hear updates about the Alliance and WA Strategy to End Homelessness, as well as share updates of their own.
During this session participants will learn about the planned work of the Alliance and work on key projects throughout this coming year including the work on;
- The Zero Project.
The Zero Project is based on the Advance to Zero methodology which counts down the number of people needing housing. This approach is actively supported by the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness and compliments the 10-year Strategy to End Homelessness.
The collective impact approach of Zero Project towards ending homelessness builds on the success of the innovative 50 Lives 50 Homes project, working with communities across Perth/Fremantle, Geraldton, Mandurah, Bunbury and Rockingham.
- The Evaluation Project.
Find out how this proposed evaluation project by The Centre for Social Impact UWA (CSI UWA) will be used to update the Alliance Dashboard and will report on the state of homelessness due to COVID-19.
- Housing First.
“In the Housing First model, a dwelling is not a reward that a homeless person receives once their life is back on track. Instead, a dwelling is the foundation on which the rest of life is put back together. When a person has a roof securely over their head it is easier for them to focus on solving their other problems.” (Y-Saatio, 2017)
We have the challenge to encourage our systems response to homelessness by incorporating the principles of Housing First within the service landscape. Come and learn about the work that is being done to encourage the sector to pivot towards Housing First. Additionally work is being done to develop a culturally appropriate model of Housing First. The First Nations Housing First project is progressing this to develop this model for Housing First within the First Nations community via Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO’s).
In addition to these topics the Alliance will hold a Pulse Session on the first Wednesday of each month for the next six months in 2021. Hear about these forthcoming topics at this session.
